I hope you're had a happy 2017 so far, it's nice to be back after a, frankly, gluttonous Christmas/Birthday/New Year's celebration. So to get back into the swing of things, here are some of my favourite things from December.
Wellness Steel Insulated Bottle 750ml
I picked up this multicoloured steel bottle from TK Maxx in early December, and it has proved to be incredibly useful. It can hold both hot and cold drinks, and it's double walled, so it's keeps in the heat. Because it's made of steel, it's much lighter than a normal thermos or glass water bottle. And most of all, it's just REALLY pretty!
Clear Crystal and Prism
I used these to shoot through on a test shoot a few weeks ago, and it's really interesting to see what it does to the images, giving them either a refracted, layered look with the prism (below), or a softer focus to the image with the clear crystal (above).
Leuchtturm1917 Notebook in Emerald
For the new year, I've decided to give bullet journalling a try. I'm always looking for new ways to organise my to do lists and keep track of different elements of my work and personal life, and someone recently mentioned bullet journaling. It requires a little bit of set up, but so far I'm really loving having everything in one place, and most of my information in one place. Leuchtturm1917 were recommended as great notebooks for bullet journalling, so I got one in a beautiful Emerald colour.
Superga Cotu Classic 2750 in Grey Sage
I absolutely love Superga shoes, as they're really well made, come in hundreds of colours and materials, and most importantly, they're incredibly comfortable. I have quite wide feet, so whilst I love the look of Converse, they just don't fit me well. Superga are a really great alternative, and are great if you're on your feet shooting a lot.
HotStyle Galaxy Backpack in Green
I've been a little bit obsessed with backpacks recently, I find them a lot more comfortable and useful than most handbags. I spotted a galaxy print backpack a few months ago and finally got one for myself a few weeks ago.
Headspace App
I think I've mentioned before that I have some stress and anxious tendencies, and I found the run up to Christmas was particularly stressful. I've started meditating more regularly, as it's great to take some time to do nothing but focus on being calm. I've been using the app Headspace, which is an app that provides guided meditation. There's lots of different types of meditation, but Headspace's focus is on 10 minutes mindfulness meditation a day, and you can set it up to send you alerts or program your calendar to add in meditation time.
